A PowerPoint presentation used to support a skills development session for postgraduate students who wish to act as demonstrators in lab and workshop sessions.

Advice for reuse

These slides are only the dull ‘presentation’ part of the course – most of the time and excitement was spent on discussing their experience of good lab sessions, coming up with their own list of good practice guidelines and then a practical exercise based around origami boats, in which ‘blue’ teams have to learn and teach boat A to ‘green’ teams, and then the ‘green’ teams teach boat B to ‘blue’ teams… works surprisingly well in terms of having to clearly explain a sequence of steps, check progress, provide feedback etc. The boat designs are copyright, so I can’t republish them: http://www.britishorigami.info/practical/diagrams/simple/sailboat.php http://www.nickrobinson.info/origami/diagrams/boat.htm
